Cake Wreck Fun!

Today kicked off the book tour for the Cake Wrecks team of Jen and John. If you have not found this site already you must look... NOW! Trust me, you will have a grand time there.

I took Meghan and we went to Changing Hands bookstore to check it out. It was a lot of fun! They chatted and showed us cake slides from the site but added in extra info not mentioned on the site. There was much laughter and clapping! There was a contest to see who could make the best replica of a cake wreck featured on the site, only in cupcake form. Here are some of those.

My friend Breanna made cake to be served. It was sooo cute!

Of course we got our book signed. Meghan was so funny. She likes to look at the site with me and she thought this picture with the doll cakes was so funny. Go down to the "Easy Chair Under Her Dress" doll, the song is under it. When she read it she started laughing and sang the song. So today she sang the song to Jen; who laughed and laughed and told her to go find John her husband and sing it to him. Of course she did it. My girl is not shy. She had a blast!

So don't wait, check out Cake Wrecks! It helps to keep me sane. ;)

Snack Bento

This is just a little snack I made for the kiddo's. They each had one but I just took a picture of this one. Anyway, inside are cut strawberries and strawberry cream. The cream is something I make for a filling in cakes. I had some left over this week and gave it to them. Super easy, just whip up some heavy whipping cream and mix in strawberry preserves to taste. YUM! and cute!

Muffin Tin Monday

Muffin Tin Mom

They had... corn chips, salsa, grape tomatoes, banana slices, cheese and turkey quesadilla's and organic strawberry yogurt with sprinkles.

Our Family Pastimes

Okay so I missed the Homeschool Blog Hop this past week. :) Shhhhh

But I decided to go with it anyways. It's a fun one.

Our family pastimes... well let's see. I like to sleep... oh wait.. things we do together right?

I would say our favorite thing is when we get to go to the beach in Coronado. We LOVE to be there, and go as often as we can. I am having withdrawls right now!

The kids love (and I do too) going on field trips or visits to interesting places. We like when Daddy is able to come along. They love playdates and getting together with other homeschool families as well.

We like trips to the library, walks, science experiments and cooking together. My kids love to cook! They also really like arts and crafts. Oh and computer games... computers are big in this family since that is what Dad does for work too.

When we stay home we like to play outside. I love to watch the kids playing and take pictures. Nate and I will sit out with them and talk, nice. We also like to watch movies together sometimes.

Improve Your Health

I just found this cool site, Food Renegade. There is just so much information here. They talk about the difference between good fat and bad. They explain how helpful it is to use coconut oil and all the benefits. I was reading through it last night and most of it isn't anything I haven't heard before but it's been a while. I think that we have gotten lax in our eating habits because we have been unsettled for a while. I keep saying to myself I will be better when I am settled in my own place again but I think I need to try harder now. Right . Now!
We taken to eating some processed things again that we had cut out. I need to stop getting it. I have stopped using the coconut oil as much and I think it is important to do that. So I am going to try and be better. Not going to beat myself up over it but do the best I can with what I have to work with. :)

Here are some specific links on Food Renegade to check out.

Look around though because there is a lot of good information.

Homeschool Village Blog Fair

This weeks theme... how do you (mom) take a break and get refreshed for the upcoming homeschool year?

Since we homeschool year round we take breaks as we need them. I usually try to take some time to myself every so often. I like to have a day to plan for the next year and it's nice if that is away from the house so no one will interrupt. :) I also have my business stuff. I have networking events and meetings I go to. This is still kind of work but it's a different kind of atmosphere so it feels like a break... sometimes. Church is a break for me once a week as well. I get to listen to a great message and that is all I have to think about. When I really want a break I will talk my husband into taking care of the kids a couple hours so I can scrapbook. :)

Muffin Tin Monday

Muffin Tin Monday at Her Cup Overfloweth

Ok I am a little late because well.. it's Tuesday! But I am posting it anyways!  My kids love MTM. We had what Meghan likes to call a "dipper day".

They had graham crackers, peanut butter and Nutella on the top row.
Then there is apple sauce, multi grain crackers and apple slices on the bottom row.

The little Strawberry box is for Ellie and has some of the same things in it.

Homeschool Village Blog Fair

Photobucket

I am joining in on another Homeschool Blog Fair. These are my favorite kind I think, since the blog is mostly about the kids and our homeschooling. :)

The theme this week is share what you are doing for the month of June.
June is going to be kind of a light school month. We homeschool year round but I won't be adding too much new stuff right now. Meghan will keep up with Math, Grammar and Reading. Kaden will keep practicing letter sounds and numbers, playing with puzzles and just playing. We will have read aloud time of course and I will be planning what I want to do for the next month (year maybe?). I am going to be adjusting to working part time and still keeping up with planning and everything. For June I think I will still be a little slow so I plan to use any extra time for planning.

I would like to add in a few experiments I have been saving and of course some field trip and pool days. I think we will have a nice June!

Here are three homeschool bloggers I would love for you to check out!
